Dr Mayur Pandya, Dental Surgeon at Iconic Smiles

Clinical experience. Surgical precision. A multidisciplinary approach to dentistry.

Dr Mayur Pandya is a dental surgeon and principal at Iconic Smiles, with clinical interests centred on oral surgery, implant dentistry, complex treatment planning and digitally supported dental care.

His professional background combines clinical practice, hospital experience, undergraduate and postgraduate education, and senior leadership within large dental organisations.

His approach to dentistry reflects a central principle: successful treatment begins with careful diagnosis and an understanding of the patient’s wider oral health, functional requirements and long-term needs.

Academic background and qualifications

Mayur graduated in 2007 from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Dentistry, obtaining his Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honours and a Distinction in Oral Disease.

In 2008, he received the Ruby Austin Gold Prize for the best clinical case presentation within the London Deanery.

He subsequently obtained Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2009, followed by a Certificate in Comprehensive Oral Implantology in 2015.

His career has encompassed clinical roles across hospital dentistry and general dental practice, with particular interests in surgical treatment and tooth replacement.

Oral surgery and dental implantology

  • Surgical tooth extraction.
  • Dental implant assessment and treatment planning.
  • Osseointegration and implant-supported tooth replacement.
  • Digitally assisted implant planning.
  • Multidisciplinary management of complex dental problems.
  • Restoring oral function following tooth loss.
  • Coordinated surgical and restorative treatment.

His experience includes thousands of dental extractions undertaken across hospital and general practice settings.

When planning implant treatment, the clinical considerations extend beyond replacing an individual tooth. Bone availability, gum health, neighbouring structures, the patient’s general health and the intended final restoration all influence the appropriate treatment pathway.

At Iconic Smiles, these factors can be considered alongside digital imaging and multidisciplinary assessment where indicated.

Clinical education and leadership

Mayur has held several dental education and teaching appointments, including Honorary Clinical Tutor at King’s College Hospital, Education Supervisor for Foundation Dentists with Health Education England, and Clinical Educator for the Foundation Degree in Oral Health Science.

His previous senior leadership experience includes serving as Chief Clinical/Operating Officer within a national dental organisation, with responsibility for clinical oversight involving more than 220 dentists across 36 dental practices.

That experience informs his interest in clinical governance, consistent professional standards, team development and the delivery of coordinated patient care.

Digital dentistry and multidisciplinary treatment

An important part of Mayur’s professional interest is the integration of digital technology into clinical dentistry.

This encompasses three-dimensional diagnostic imaging, digital scanning and planning, and the responsible application of emerging technologies to support clinical decision-making.

For patients with complex dental needs, effective treatment may involve contributions from implant, orthodontic, restorative and cosmetic clinicians working within a coordinated care pathway.

This multidisciplinary model underpins Iconic Smiles’ approach to comprehensive treatment planning.
