What does Diamond Apex Invisalign Provider mean?
Diamond Apex is an Invisalign provider tier recognising high annual treatment volume. It reflects extensive experience with the Invisalign system. Your treatment is planned around your teeth, bite and goals, with clinical reviews and retention discussed from the outset.
Invisalign may be possible when gum disease is stable, with active inflammation treated before elective movement. Lost support changes how a tooth responds to force, including its tendency to tilt and its mobility, so the plan needs particular care. Uncontrolled disease raises the risk of further tissue damage. A scan of the visible teeth cannot replace gum measurements, indicated X-rays and diagnosis.
What stability looks like before aligners
The team checks pockets, bleeding, plaque, mobility, recession and the pattern of bone support. Gum treatment, smoking support and a tailored cleaning routine may come first. Suitability follows the response and ongoing risk rather than a fixed waiting period. Some people with stable previous periodontitis can have orthodontics, with carefully controlled forces and continuing maintenance.
When the orthodontic goal should be smaller
Closing every gap or achieving a picture-perfect alignment may not be biologically sensible for a patient with reduced support. Alternatives include limited movement to improve cleanability, restorative masking of a small irregularity or accepting an imperfection. Black triangles can remain or become more visible after alignment when the underlying gum and bone have changed.
How to coordinate near Enfield
Ask whether a gum health assessment and hygiene phase should happen before an orthodontic consultation, and who will monitor gums during treatment. Iconic Smiles Friern Barnet can be an initial point of contact; confirm the treating clinician, any referral and the schedule for long-term maintenance before paying for aligners.
Clear aligners move teeth through their supporting tissues
Orthodontic forces act through the ligament around the root and the surrounding bone. Where teeth are mobile or support has been lost, limited movement, lighter forces or closer gum monitoring may be appropriate after disease control. The visible suitability of the front teeth for a discreet appliance cannot establish the safety of those movements on its own.
A gum examination may change the treatment sequence
Bleeding, deep periodontal pockets, recession and signs of bone loss may prompt charting, appropriate radiographs and gum disease treatment before aligners begin. A patient who wants straighter teeth might first need advice about brushing technique, interdental cleaning and regular professional maintenance. The clinician should re-evaluate stability before moving on. A scan showing crowded teeth does not reveal all the information required to judge root support; digital simulations cannot establish that the planned path is biologically safe.
Choose the type and extent of tooth movement carefully
An aligner may be suitable for relatively straightforward crowding in a stable mouth. Severe bone loss, problematic root positions or complicated bite changes may require adapted treatment or specialist multidisciplinary discussion. Sometimes modest alignment offers a better risk-benefit balance than attempting an idealised computer-generated smile. Existing gum recession can also become more visible as tooth positions change. These limitations should be explained before treatment rather than discovered as an unwelcome surprise when the trays are nearly finished.
Long-term stability depends on two plans
Retainers help maintain tooth positions; periodontal maintenance helps control disease affecting their support. Both plans may be needed. A fixed wire can make cleaning harder, while a removable retainer depends on consistent wear. Discuss how each would fit your routine and how breakages or future gum changes would be managed. An Enfield-area consultation should address these longer-term needs alongside appliance choice.
What would make the orthodontist change the plan?
New gum bleeding, unexpected tooth movement, increasing mobility or difficulty cleaning attachments should be discussed promptly. A treatment pause or revised objective is not necessarily failure; sometimes it is the safer response to new clinical information. Ask before starting whether the plan includes periodontal reviews and who decides when movement should be modified.
