Dr Kishan Patel is our specialist orthodontist, with a keen focus on giving you the best alignment of your teeth along with optimal bite.
Kishan has graduated in 2015 from the University of Bristol where he passed with distinction, gaining both the Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery prizes in his final year. He subsequently undertook his dental foundation training in the Southeast London Deanery and commenced three hospital jobs in London and Sheffield comprising of annual rotations in the specialties of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Paediatric Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry. He was then appointed a dental foundation trainer within the Southeast London Deanery, training newly qualified dentists after undertaking a postgraduate certificate in medical education from the University of Dundee. He is currently a member of the Association of Medical Educators.
He underwent a highly competitive three-year orthodontic specialty training at King’s College Hospital and St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts. Kishan undertook his MSc at King’s College London, where he was awarded the Philip Walther Prize for the highest result in the year. He was awarded the Intercollegiate Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Currently, Dr Patel is undergoing Consultant training at King’s College Hospital and St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts, where he treats the most complex cases including those requiring a combination of braces and jaw surgery, multiple missing teeth and the most complex of bites and craniofacial syndromes.
He is a member of the British Orthodontic Society, the European Orthodontic Society, and a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Dr Patel has presented research both nationally and internationally. He written over 20 peer reviewed articles and has peer reviewed multiple articles for the British Dental Journal and the prestigious Journal of Orthodontics. With a wealth of hospital experiences, Dr Patel brings a dimension to the Iconic Smiles team with a background in gold-standard hospital-based treatment to his patients. He is determined in delivering evidence-based care to optimise results for his patients.
