Cosmetic dentistry and carefully planned smile aesthetics

A makeover is a combination, not one standard procedure

There is no single smile-makeover price: the cost depends on which changes you want and which treatments suit your teeth. Straightening, whitening, bonding, veneers and tooth repairs involve different care. Before comparing totals, be clear about treatment needed for health or function and the appearance changes you choose.

Use the published starting prices accurately

On 25 October 2026, Iconic Smiles listed Invisalign from £2,400, composite bonding from £325 per tooth, crowns or veneers from £650 and an at-home whitening kit at £400. These are guide prices, not a quotation for a particular combination or an assurance that every treatment is suitable for you. [1]

Why two smile-makeover quotations can look very different

These examples describe different treatment scopes, not recommendations or patient cases. The right combination still needs an individual assessment.

  • Colour alone: a quotation for whitening addresses a different goal from a plan that also changes tooth position or shape. Ask which concern each proposed treatment is intended to address.
  • Alignment and colour: a plan involving teeth straightening and whitening needs to identify both stages. Ask whether records, reviews, retainers and whitening are included in the total, and when each stage would happen.
  • Changes to tooth shape: a bonding or veneer quotation should state the teeth being treated and the fee for each part of the plan. Four, six and eight teeth describe different amounts of work; they are not interchangeable packages.

For more detailed comparisons, see the guides to bonding on four, six or eight teeth and porcelain veneers on four, six or eight teeth.

What should your written quotation include?

Ask the team to show these items separately, so you can compare the same scope of care:

  • The agreed aim, the teeth involved and the treatments proposed for each stage.
  • The assessment and records included, with any separately charged scans or investigations identified.
  • Any preparatory dental or gum care and whether another clinician would provide it.
  • The active treatment, temporary work where relevant, review appointments and agreed finishing work.
  • Retainers or other aftercare where relevant, plus the arrangements and fees for maintenance, repairs or replacement.
  • The total estimate, payment stages, exclusions and what would require a revised quotation and further agreement.

Before paying a deposit, ask what you would pay if you chose only part of the proposed plan or decided to pause between agreed stages. A lower headline price is difficult to judge when it leaves essential items unspecified.

If you need to spread treatment over time

Tell the clinician your budget and priorities before the plan is finalised. Ask which work addresses health or function, which changes are elective and whether the plan can be divided into agreed stages. The written plan should explain the order, the fee at each stage and what would happen if you stopped after that stage. Phasing should follow an appropriate treatment sequence rather than simply removing items from a package. Check the current Iconic Smiles fees and confirm your own estimate before proceeding.

Treatment order can change the total

Ask whether preparatory care or another stage is needed before the visible cosmetic work. Your estimate should explain the proposed treatments, the expected fee and any conditional stages. Where the agreed treatment or estimate changes, there should be a further discussion and consent to the change.

Compare maintenance and the cost of future intervention

Include future polishing, repairs or replacement in your decision, as well as the initial treatment. Research distinguishes a restoration staying in place from one needing no further work. The team should explain likely maintenance and how the plan preserves healthy tooth tissue. [2]

Book a conversation around a clear aim

Explain what concerns you and what outcome would matter most. Ask the team to compare reasonable options and provide an individual written estimate. Iconic Smiles publishes guide fees and confirms the fee in the treatment plan; the price of an unspecified makeover cannot be reliably inferred from one starting figure. [1]
